CARC Zello Channels

The Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club operates various Zello Channels to facilitate communications with its membership and to promote Amateur Radio in general.  Some of our channels are “Members Only”, others are open to Amateur Radio Operators as guests subject to the following considerations:

All of our Club channels are “private” within the definition of Zello’s usage rules, therefore, our channels are moderated & monitored and require the approval of a CARC Channel Moderator to join.  All CARC Zello Channels require users to conform to our Club’s Code of Conduct to ensure civil and pleasant discussions.  Violation of our rules of conduct may result in immediate revocation of access to any or all CARC Zello Channels.

Current List of CARC Zello Channels:

  • Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club (CARC Z1 Channel – Members Only).
Purpose:  Member QSOs, Emergency/Weather-Related notifications, etc.
  • Coming Soon:  Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club Discussion (CARC Z2 Channel – Approved Guests with valid Amateur Radio License & CARC Members).
Purpose:  General discussion (technical, operations, etc.).
  • Coming Soon:  Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club Licensing Assistance (CARC Z3 Channel – Approved Guests with or without valid Amateur Radio License  & CARC Members).

If you would like to participate in our Zello Channels, please send an email to zello@w4am.net so we may promptly review your request to join.  We need the following information from you:  Legal Name, Callsign (if you hold a valid licensed Amateur Radio License), and a list of the CARC channels you wish to join.

Useful information & tips about setting up and using Zello maybe found on our Web Links Page (under Network Radio).  An especially help link is here.

“Solo Mode” (under Status) is useful as it gives you options as to listening to all connected channels simultaneously (similar to a scanning function) or a specific channel.  Read about Solo Mode and how to use it here.

Zello Channels of Interest:

For Android device users, the “Stay Alive” app is helpful in preventing your device from going into sleep mode and preventing the screen from going into energy conservation mode. Stay Alive is a free app on the Google Play Store.

We look forward to talking and sharing Amateur Radio information with you.
