Hamfest Chattanooga 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge, Tennessee.  We are also proud to host the 2018 Tennessee State ARRL Convention during our hamfest.  It should be remembered that date selection for almost all hamfests (ours included) is driven by venue availability and not an intentional desire to compete with other hamfests in the surrounding areas.  As we grow, we must be able to take advantage of other venues that give us the opportunity to expand and offer more to our guests, their families, and our vendors.

Here’s the “skinny” on Hamfest Chattanooga 2017, an ARRL-Sanctioned Event:

We will be at the East Ridge Community Center, 1517 Tombras Avenue, East Ridge, TN 37412 in 2017 before we transition to Camp Jordan Arena for a multi-year period starting in 2018.  Map to Hamfest Chattanooga.

This location is close to Tennessee Exit 1 (West side) on Interstate 75.

As many dealers reserved tables at the end of hamfest last year, uncommitted tables and spaces are going fast so contact our Vendor Management Team today:

Date/Time:  Saturday, October 21, 2017  /  Doors open to the public at 8 AM.  Event closes at 2 PM.  The FCC Test Session begins promptly at 9 AM.  Flea Market vendors may access the flea market area as early as 6:30 AM EDT on Saturday to set up.

Despite the best efforts of the Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club and the Andrew Johnson Amateur Radio Club, Hamfest Chattanooga 2017 and the Greeneville Hamfest will be on the same day due to venue availability and other commitments.

A Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) Event will be hosted in our club’s communication trailer. Uniformed Scouts & Scoutmasters from recognized scouting organizations will receive free admission to hamfest. These groups include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Girl Scouts of America, Trail Life, and American Heritage Girls.  If you’re not wearing an official scouting uniform…don’t ask.

Anyone receiving free admission is ineligible to participate in the door prize drawings.

Inside vendor/dealer setup starts at around 1 PM on Friday, October 20 through approximately 6 PM.  Early vendor/dealer setup is available for Saturday morning. Contact our Vendor Management Team and let them know you want to set up on Saturday before 8 AM.

Event Admission.
Inside Event Admission $10 per person; guests under 18 years of age are admitted free as are “scouts in uniform” (including “scoutmasters”).  Flea Market Vendors pay $10 for the first space; $5 for each additional space.  Each paying flea market vendor will receive one and only one, non-transferrable, Inside Event Admission free regardless of how many spaces are paid for.

Cash is the preferred method of payment for Inside Event Admission & Flea Market Vendor space(s) as it eliminates credit card fees to our hamfest budget and moves the line to enter along quickly.  So please have US Currency available.  Bills over $20 dollar denominations are discouraged.  Credit/Debit Cards may be used; however, an administrative fee will be added to cover the cost of processing.

For simplicity purposes, Official CARC Hamfest Chattanooga Wristbands will be used to confirm payment for Inside Event Admission & Flea Market Vendor space(s).  Wristbands shall be applied by Event Personnel to the guest’s wrist at time of payment and worn by the guest throughout the Event.  Wristbands that have been removed, tampered with, cut, or otherwise compromised will be considered null & void.  If requested by Event personnel, guests will be required to show the intact, in-place-on-wrist, wristband as proof of payment.  Wearing of a hamfest wristband by guest will also entitle each guest to one door prize ticket.

Outside flea market/tailgate space is available and the weather is normally great this time of year!  So bring your hat and sunscreen and enjoy our beautiful area.

Talk-in Frequency 146.790 mHz. – No Tone Needed!

Inside vendor/dealers as well as Flea Market vendors who have not paid in advance, will be required to pay before unloading and setup begins.

Cash, credit, and debit cards will be accepted as forms of payment for almost all event-related fees (event entry, flea market space, food, merchandise, license testing, etc.) so you can keep your cash to spend with our fine vendors and dealers.  Credit/Debit Cards may be used; however, an administrative fee will be added to cover the cost of processing.

After-Expense Revenues received through hamfest go toward projects supported by our 501(c)(3) club.  Contrary to common myth, we do not receive a percentage of vendor sales.  Vendors & dealers pay a fixed cost per table/space.

Sales Tax.
Anyone winning door prizes, selling, trading, or bartering items during hamfest is responsible for any and all applicable sales (or other) taxes.  It is the seller’s/buyer’s responsibility to address taxes that may be appropriate to their transaction and to pay those taxes to the appropriate taxing agency.  For tax purposes, Hamfest Chattanooga 2017 is in Hamilton County, Tennessee and also in the City of East Ridge, Tennessee.

To those coming to take the test(s) for their amateur radio license:  The testing room is directly connected to the main lobby area. You will NOT have to purchase an admission to take the test but you will be required to pay the testing fee. If you decide to come on into the event (Rooms A, B, and/or the Flea Market/Tailgate area, you will need to purchase an admission.

We plan to have door prizes to give away throughout the day thanks to the generosity of our sponsors & dealers. Remember, members of the Chattanooga Amateur Radio club, spouses, and immediate family have decided to not participate in the door prize program so our honored guests have better chances to win.  You will be presented with a door prize ticket with identification stub after you pay for admission.  Just complete the back of it and drop it in the drum.

Grand Prizes – You do not have to be present to win our first, second, or third grand prizes. Other prizes require you to be on-site if your name is drawn.  We will wait a few minutes and make a “last call” announcement.  Failure to come forward within the allotted time is considered forfeiture of the prize in which case another ticket will be drawn.  To be fair to all, once drawn, tickets are not returned to the drum.
